Pilates - a gentle training method

Background of the Pilates Method
This method is based on the lifework of Joseph Hubertus Pilates (1880-1965). Pilates, born in Düsseldorf (Germany), developed a method to change his own weak appearance into that of an athlet. He developed a symbiosis of far eastern and european training schools that he consequently improved. He immigrated to the United States in the 1920s (to New York). His studio there quickly fascinated the elite of the New York establishment. Numerous actors, dancers, and top athlets preferred his method to individually add it to their traditional training programs.
So it has not only been used by Madonna and Steffi Graf...
